ENTERGY, IRS and CLEARING HOUSE SCAMS

There have been numerous businesses, as well as residents in Cross County that have been receiving Entergy Scam calls. The caller identifies as being an employee with Entergy. The caller will then state that the utilities are about to be shut off for nonpayment.  If the business does not pay the amount due over the phone, the utilities will be shut off immediately. The telephone number showing from the caller is 501-476-0112.

DO NOT give out any information to this person.

If you are in doubt call Entergy yourself.


IRS SCAM

There have been several complaints of people receiving calls from the IRS. The number is 202-241-8602. The callers have been stating that you owe back taxes and ask for personal information. If you refuse to give the information to them, they are threatening that the police will show up at your residence and arrest you. Please keep in mind that the IRS will not call asking for personal information, nor will they send the police to your residence to arrest you.

PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE SCAM

This office has also been receiving complaints of someone calling stating they are with Publishers Clearing House and you have won several thousand dollars. You have to send them a processing fee in order to get the money.  THIS IS ALSO A SCAM, DO NOT give out any personal information.
